This section contains links to organisations that provide support to LGBT people and their families. Most of these organisations are also involved in advocacy and awareness raising work around the issues experienced by lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people.
BeLonG To Youth Services is a national organisation for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender young people aged between 14 and 23 years. BeLonG To also have a range of resources for young people, parents and schools.
The National LGBT helpline website aims to provide a gateway to information and support for LGBT people in Ireland and also has information for the friends and family of LGBT people as well as professionals working with LGBT people. The helpline is open Monday - Friday 7pm - 9pm. Tel. 1890 929 539.
Loving Our Out Kids (Formerly Parents Support) is a support organisation run by parents for other parents who have lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender children of any age.
Transgender Equality Network Ireland (TENI) is an organisation supporting the transgender community in Ireland. TENI have produced a range of resources for professionals, including Transgender and Gender Diversity Information for Guidance Counsellors.
INTO LGBT Teachers is a group of lesbian, gay and bisexual teachers within the Irish National Teachers' Prganisation, which formed and fully endorsed by th Union in November 2004. One of the publications that the group has produced includes LGBT Good Practice Guidelines for Staffrooms, available on their webpage.
ASTI Gay and Lesbian Network is a group of gay and lesbian ASTI members who meet regularly in ASTI Head Office. The meetings offer gay and lesbian members the opportunity to share their experiences which in turn helps to identify what the ASTI needs to do to promote equal treatment for gay and lesbian teachers.
TUI LGB Network is a network for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender members to provide support and work on the issues affecting LGBT teachers
