New Poll Shows Support for Equal Marriage at 76%

24 February 2014

In a new Red C Poll for RTÉ Prime Time/ Sunday Business Post, when asked directly how they would vote if the referendum were to be held tomorrow, 76% suggest they would vote in favour of recognition of same-sex marriage, just 19% suggest they would oppose the referendum and 5% are undecided.

Almost half of those surveyed indicated that while they believed in equal rights for gay people, they also had reservations about same sex marriage.

When asked if people in same sex relationships should have the same rights as traditional families, 80% agreed, with 20% against.
