Major Survey by Leading Trade Union on Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Issues
The Public Service Executive Union (PSEU) is undertaking a survey of its 10,000 members on lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) issues.
This is the first such study of its kind in Ireland, and is a very positive development. As a quarter of LGBT people have experienced verbal abuse in their work places, it s a very welcome development that the PSEU is taking a lead in addressing the issue.

Presentation to the Oireachtas Education Committee on LGBT Students
GLEN’s Director of Education Policy, Sandra Gowran along with Carol-Anne O’Brien, the Advocacy Coordinator of BeLonG To Youth Services, made a joint presentation to the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Education and Science on 2nd July. This was the first time that the issues for LGBT young people in second level schools had been debated by a Dáil Committee.

A new Code of Practice was launched on Friday 18th April. The Code is an inspiring example of good practice that acknowledges the barriers that LGBT people may face in accessing services.
It was developed by West Training (the Regional Support Agency for the West and Midlands region) in partnership with GLEN to encourage inclusive service delivery to LGBT people in their communities and thereby reducing these barriers
The Code was formally launched by Senator David Norris and Michael O’Kennedy (Chair of the Family Support Agency) on Friday 18th April at the West Training offices
